The Internet of Things or the expansion of the Internet in the physical world
The Internet of Things or IoT represents an extension of the Internet to the physical world, enabling objects around us to communicate with us and between them.
It symbolizes the fourth generation of the Internet characterized by the exponential growth of connected things, which will overcome the 20 billions by 2020 according to Gartner (Source: Gartner January 2017).
To connect these objects, a specific network with both low power consumption and long range, is needed (ex : Sigfox, LoRa), each object being identified on this network by an unique key.
Moreover, these objects are equipped with sensors, to receive required data (ex : weight, pressure…) and transmit them to the final user via this network.
